“Nerds like us are allowed to be unironically enthusiastic about stuff. Nerds are allowed to love stuff, like jump-up-and-down-in-your-chair-can’t-control-yourself love it. When people call people nerds, mostly what you’re saying is “You like stuff.” Which is not a good insult at all. Like, “You are too enthusiastic about the miracle of human consciousness” ~ John Green
I recently read THIS POST, and I agree with her completely! The quote above is at the top of her article, and it is so fitting. How many thing in our lives are just mediocre to us, that we do out of habit? What do we get excited about, or feel so passionately about that we jump up and down squealing, or can’t sit still anticipating it?
I think I am done apologizing for being enthusiastic – after all, we only get one life.
So, what am I excited about?
- First and foremost, my kids. Anything they do, whatever activity they are doing, and every achievement they make. I am their biggest cheerleader!
- Larping. I have only been doing it for a couple years, but I thoroughly enjoy it. It is forcing me to come out of a shell and push my boundaries
- Art. I love all kinds of art for viewing, but more importantly, I love making art. Whether it’s photography or pottery, mixed media or sketching. I find it cathartic, relaxing, and exciting!
