Not a soul in this country, and many across the world, will forget that day. Every one of us who is still here today remembers EXACTLY where they were that fateful morning. I was exactly three months pregnant with Reagan. Scott was across the world working overseas (due back in a few short weeks). I was getting ready for work and saw the news ~ at first I thought it was an advertisement for a new movie, but then I realized I was watching real-time events. I was in shock ~ as many, believing it was an accident at first. For the first time ever, we were allowed to watch TV at work, my shock turned to disbelief, dismay, sadness, and grief as the events of the day unfolded and the truth was discovered.
I am forever thankful that I was at home with my children, getting ready for work. I am forever thankful that there are so many selfless heroes amongst us. I am forever thankful I live in a country where I can speak my mind, and I have so many freedoms.
I am forever thankful I am alive.
Love your country. Your country is the land where your
parents sleep, where is spoken that language in which the chosen of your heart, blushing, whispered the first word of love; it is the home that God has given you that by striving to perfect yourselves therein you may prepare to ascend to him.~Giuseppe Mazzini
