Welcome to To Do Tuesday August 16 hosted by Christine over at Stitch All the Things!
1. Sunkissed Tee from Peek-A-Boo Pattern Shop
2. TSNEM: August – Bodice Sloper (remeasure and adjust pattern accordingly)
3. Pattern Test: Capsule Wardrobe (finish capsule wardrobe)
4. Little Mermaid Costumes (sketch and mock-up both costumes)
5. LARP: Short Sleeve Underdress (get it made and off my list)
I am a day late, again, but I don’t mind. I got quite a bit done this week, but I don’t have any pictures to add. Everything is in a partially done state, so next week’s update will be a lot more fun!

2. TSNEM: August – Bodice Sloper (remeasure and adjust pattern accordingly)
5. LARP: Short Sleeve Underdress (get it made and off my list)
I didn’t work on these projects at all because I have been working on the capsule wardrobe and the Little Mermaid costumes.
3. Pattern Test: Capsule Wardrobe (finish capsule wardrobe)
I have all the bottoms completed, and I expect to have all the tops finished by this Sunday so we can take pictures and close the project. I love how everything is turning out, and I can’t wait to see Reagan in these!
4. Little Mermaid Costumes (sketch and mock-up both costumes)
A. Ariel’s Sail Dress – It took me a while to wrap my head around how to make this costume because even though she’s supposed to look like she’s wrapped in a sail and rope, she still needs to look good, the costume needs to be durable, and it needs to be something she can change into quickly. While searching for inspiration, I ran across the blog Strange Like That, and she had a post detailing how she made her own Ariel’s Sail Dress. I love her results, so that is the direction I am taking the one I am making. This is my first priority to finish because we have a Media Night scheduled for Thursday, and we will be performing the song/scene where Ariel wears it.
B. Ariel’s Transformation Tail – I have the plan and pattern made for this costume, as well, and I will be putting it together before Friday, which is the first rehearsal with the harness flies (insert excited squeal here). I cannot wait to see it in action! Reagan is not going to have a ton of time in the harness to practice kicking off the tail, so we want her to start practicing Friday.
My list for next week is pretty much the same, though I reordered them by priority:
1-A. Ariel’s Sail Dress
1-B. Ariel’s Transformation Tail
2. Pattern Test: Capsule Wardrobe (finish capsule wardrobe)
3. Sunkissed Tee from Peek-A-Boo Pattern Shop
4. TSNEM: August – Bodice Sloper (remeasure and adjust pattern accordingly)
5. LARP: Short Sleeve Underdress (get it made and off my list)
Nature Girl. Mom. Wife. Friend. Photographer. Sewer. Crafter. Artist.
To borrow a phrase – “Yeet Ye Riche”
I just stay impressed with how you pull off all these costume creations! Hope your sail dress and mermaid tail turn out as you have envisioned them!
Thank you, Sharon! It is definitely a challenge, which is why I think I like it so much!
I can’t wait to see the costuming! Such great ideas! I am actually excited to see all of your finishes, and especially the capsule wardrobe. You are a rockstar with all this apparel sewing! Have fun this week with your rehearsals… sounds like a blast!
Thank you! It’s taken me a while to figure out how to make them, but now that I have a path it should be easy!
