While Todd and I were finishing our college degrees we each lived with our parents. Todd already owned a home when he returned to school, so he has had renters in it for several years. While we have been extremely grateful for the help we have received from our parents, it is definitely time to be in our own home as a family. We are going to be moving into the house Todd already owns.
There is just one hiccup. Todd’s house is a small-ish three bedroom, one bath home. That worked perfectly when it was just him and Terrance, but add two teenage girls and a mom to the mix, and it’s a recipe for disaster. So, before we move in, we are remodeling. We are turning the attached garage into a master suite, and the laundry room is also being moved out there, which allows us to expand the existing bathroom for the kids. We are replacing all the floors, the kitchen cabinets, upgrading the lighting, and giving everything a fresh coat of paint. In addition, the unattached shop is being converted to a family room/entertainment space.
We started the remodel on March 29, 2015, and we are hoping to be done and moved in by the end of June 2015. We are very lucky to have great friends and family who are volunteering their time, expertise, and muscle to helping us.
I will add more images from our progress as we work, but for now, the before pictures (click on any of the images to see the gallery larger):
