At the beginning of the softball season, the girls’ dad decided to check out prices of athletic goggles/glasses for Harley. What he discovered was that it would cost approximately three times more to get them for her instead of contacts. So, we decided she was responsible enough to try contacts.
She had her first appointment last week to measure her eyes, and because she has such an odd prescription and an astigmatism her trial pair had to be ordered. They came in yesterday, so I made the appointment for her to have them put on and to learn how to do it herself for this morning. We told her that we had missed an immunization when she had her shots last summer, and that was why we had to go to town. When I pulled in to the eye doctor, I told the girls (I had Reagan, too) that I had to run in for a bit. I told them to come in because I wasn’t sure how long it was going to take.
When we got inside, the assistant asked Harley if she was excited about getting her contacts, she looked at me, looked back at the assistant, and then SCREAMED. Not exaggerating – she SCREAMED at the top of her lungs! She has been wearing a permanent grin on her face ever since!
What I love the most about her having contacts is that we can finally see her gorgeous brown eyes again. She is one of those people who’s every emotion playes out in her eyes, and you can see straignt into her beautiful soul by looking into her eyes. She has had glasses since she was five, so to me, her face looks naked. 🙂
Of course, the occasion necessitated a quickie photo shoot!
We ordered another pair of glasses for Reagan the same time we ordered Harley’s contacts because she doesn’t have a back up pair, and they came in, too, so she has a whole new look now, too!
Wonderful girlies with their new looks!
