Remember I said we chose charcoal gray for the outside of our house? We painted some siding before putting it up on the vaulted portion of our house, but the rest is still just primed. So, at the moment, we have a calico-colored house. Here’s a couple pictures showing the siding – both painted and not. The more and more I see this gray, the more I absolutely LOVE it!
Early this summer, Aaron and I received a cash gift from a relative with the instructions to purchase something nice for our new home with it. It took us a long time to decide what to purchase with the money because we wanted to make sure it was something that would always remind us of their generosity and how thankful we are for our family. Finally, we decided to apply the money towards our dining room chandelier. Thank you for that wonderful contribution, we appreciate it so very much.
The kitchen cabinets are complete except for the crown molding and the countertops. I don’t believe anyone will ever complain that we don’t have enough lighting in our kitchen. We have a lot of task lighting, pendants over the eating bar, and if you look closely, you’ll see the accent lights on top of the upper cabinets. Eventually, once the crown molding is up, those lights will be attached to the back side of it; for now, though, it’s just laid out up there. We love it – it makes the perfect night light.
This is the sink we chose – just a little smaller size. We like the simple, clean lines, one tub, and the black will go so nicely with the other appliances in the kitchen.
This is the countertop we chose – it is so BEAUTIFUL! It looks so nice with our cabinets and the appliances. It’s not too “flashy”, but it’s also unique.
We’ve picked up the tile for the kitchen, as well. The big 12″x12″ tiles are for the floor. The 6″x6″ and 2″x2″ tiles are for the backsplash. I can’t wait for us to get started tiling – it is such an exciting process! I have never laid tile before, but I am excited to learn (that is if the Tile Master – my dad – will let me do any).
This week, my dad and Tom also installed the master bathroom cabinets. This is a close up picture of the master bathroom countertop and the countertop itself.
We also picked up the tile for the girls’ bathroom floor. They’re 16″x16″. The countertop and sinks are sitting on the floor in Harley’s room patiently waiting to be installed.
We have also picked out trim wood styles – baseboards, door & window casings, and chair rails. Mom and I will be back on the paint crew because all those, including all the interior doors have to be painted. The good thing about them, though, is that it won’t be overhead!
The tile saw arrived today, so tiling will start soon. We’re taking advantage of every bit of good weather to finish the siding and decks, and then we will focus our effots on the interior finish work.
