Serendipitous Discovery

Many an opportunity is lost because a man is out looking for four-leaf clovers.

I doubt there is ever a time Reagan loses an opportunity becuase she’s too busy star-gazing, day dreaming, or as in the quote, looking for four-leaf clovers.  She has such an inquisitive, curious sponge for a mind, that I sincerely belive she is learning constantly, even when I don’t realize it.  She uses and comprehends words and phrases that just don’t sound normal coming out of the mouth of a 9-year-old.  She is scary smart!

Friday, we were at Emma’s track meet in Milton-Freewater, and after a walk around with Katleyn, Reagan told me she found a four-leaf clover.  I, of course, didn’t believe her, and just laughed.

Then she showed it to me.  Oops!

I have never seen a four-leaf clover in real life, let alone known anyone who had ever found one, so I was pretty impressed.  Reagan brough a couple of books with her, so I “pressed” it between a couple pages so she could save it.  Once it’s dry, I’ll either mount or laminate it for her so it doesn’t get destroyed.

Never iron a four-leaf clover, because you don’t want to press your luck.  ~Author Unknown

Lucky Girl

While we were all watching more events, Reagan continued to look around in the grass with a couple of the Heppner track kids.  Jeff and Colby each managed to find at least one four-leaf clover, too, and Reagan actually found a second one!  She gave the second one to Alex, he is one of her heroes that I talked about in THIS post.

I would be willing to bet that at some point this weekend, Reagan will get online and Google Search four-leaf clovers to lear more about them.  Following that, I guarantee she will also regurgitate any information she discovers to anyone who will listen.  With the discoveries she had today, she must be one lucky girl!

I am lucky because I get to have this smart, spirited, and sweet little girl as my daughter!

A best friend is like a four leaf clover: hard to find and lucky to have.  ~Author Unknown
