Sunday Lately – Week 123

Sunday Lately is a weekly linkup hosted by the Blogger Tribe, which is fearlessly led by Angelica (Gardening in High Heels) and Katy (Wild and Wanderful). We e-hangout every Sunday, sharing a small glimpse into the past week of life in our worlds.

This week’s themes:  Adoring, Quoting, Dreaming, Designing, and Using

Adoring

The May Day dresses I made for Harley’s senior class!  The girls all looked amazing!

Quoting

John Burroughs.  Specifically, my favorite quote of his.

I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order.

It is no secret that I love the mountains, nature, and the ability they provide to “get away”, even if it’s only for a short time.  My knee surgery and recovery has not been bad, and other than a couple “poor me” moments, I feel like it has gone very smoothly.  One specific downside about my recovery and rehabilitation that I am not looking forward to is physical activity limits.  I only have one more week in my brace, but I will not be released for full physical activity for another three to six months.  The consequence of which is that I won’t be able to get out and hike much this summer.

My doctor did mention that easy, mild trails will be likely, so I am holding out hope for that.  I am having to adapt my method for getting out into nature.  We have a large wetland here with trails through it, and I plan on taking advantage of them.  I also have an inflatable kayak, and there are lakes I can get to without hiking, so I envision lots of time in my kayak this summer!

This hike to Crawfish Lake that Harley and I did last summer is definitely out of the question, but I can look at our pictures and live vicariously through them.  If you look closely enough, you can see her standing on the rock formation on the left. <3

Dreaming

Of long summer days, bar-b-ques on the patio, time with friends and family, and hanging out in the hammock.

Designing

My fall mini-capsule wardrobe.  I probably won’t work on it for a few months, but I decided that if I got it all organized now I could keep a look out for fabric throughout the summer.

Using

The plants our friend, Dusty, gave us.  Finally.  He gave us cuttings off several of his plants shortly after I had surgery, and I wasn’t able to get them planted as quickly as I would have liked once they rooted.  For now, I just bought some inexpensive plastic pots from Wal-Mart to get them set.  Eventually, when I re-pot them, I will get nicer pots.
