To Do Tuesday December 13

Welcome to To Do Tuesday December 13!

TDTuesday

To Do Tuesday is hosted by Christine at Stitch ALL The Things.  It is a great weekly motivator to finish projects and (for me) to keep my To Do List manageable.  I have been participating since last spring, and I love how much it helps my ADHD brain stay focused!

Here is my list from November 29:

1.   November TNSEM Project:  Lace Overlay (includes August’s Bodice Sloper)
2.  December TSNEM Project:  Slippery Fabric
3.  Tunic Pattern Testing – Work the final round of testing for pattern release next week
4.  Baby Gifts (two girls – neither knew until they were born)
5.  August TSNEM – Bodice Sloper (remeasure and adjust pattern accordingly)
6.  September TSNEM – Hat and Mask making

So, let’s see what progress I made!

The week before last was the Thanksgiving holiday weekend here in the US, which, for me, meant an extra long weekend at home.  It worked out perfectly because I was finally able to spend some quality time with projects and my sewing machine.  I even spent some time crocheting another hat – this time a white one for Reagan but I forgot to take pictures of it.

1-2.  November TNSEM Project:  Lace Overlay AND December TNSEM Project:  Slippery Fabric

I ended up not using the sloper from the August TSNEM project.  Reagan needed her dress in a hurry, and we didn’t have time to fiddle with fit.  Reagan wanted her dress to be black satin with a black lace overlay.  Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough lace.  The pattern calls for four godets, so we made an executive decision to make them with the lace overlay.  At any rate, I am FINISHED with two month’s TSNEM projects!!!  Yay for finishes!

3.  Tunic Pattern Testing – Work the final round of testing for pattern release next week

This pattern finished testing and is set to be released this week.  It is the Maggie Top, Tunic, and Dress from Bella Sunshine Designs.  It is one of the most fun and easy patterns I have ever made!  Both of the girls like it, as well, and I can easily see this becoming a wardrobe staple for all three of us!

I am going to be hosting a Maggie Sew-A-Long on the Sewing Pattern Testers Blog in January.  This is a great pattern to start with if you have been waffling about sewing apparel and/or knits.  You should definitely join me for the sew-a-long!

4.  Baby Gifts (two girls – neither knew until they were born)

I haven’t gotten started on these gifts, still.  I like to make gifts that are for older babies, though, so I’m not freaking out about it.

5.   August TSNEM – Bodice Sloper (remeasure and adjust pattern accordingly)

Even though I am very close to having this finished, I am not going to work on it until next year.  This will help me reduce my to-do list, and it gives me something to look forward to trying.

6.  September TSNEM – Hat and Mask making

I think, like the August TSNEM, I am probably going to shift this to next year and enjoy the rest of this year stress-free.

7.  Dinner for Eight – Poland

Todd and I belong to a little group with four other couples called Dinner for Eight.  Each couple fixes dinner once per year, and it works out that we meet about quarterly.  This is the first year we have done it, and we had a great time.  It was successful enough that we are continuing.  The other meals cooked last year were Italian, Greek, and a “harvest’ meal.  Todd and I had the last quarter this year, and we chose to make a Polish meal.  We spent months planning and finalizing the menu with my sister, Erika, who lived there for many years.  In the end, we made ten dishes – including appetizers and dessert.

I spent most of the past week preparing and planning for our dinner, so I didn’t get as many personal projects done as I wanted.  The dinner was a huge success, and I will be writing a more detailed post about it later this week.

Finally, after all the craziness of the weekend, we rearranged our living room, and Reagan put up and decorated our tree Sunday evening.  I love it!

I am happy that I am only adding “finishing touches” to my To Do list for this week!

1.  Baby Gifts (two girls – neither knew until they were born)
2.  Maggie Top, Tunic, & Dress Pattern – write pattern review post and publish
3. Take Pictures and write post for TNSEM – December & November
4.  Write Dinner for Eight wrap up post with recipes
5.  Organize and Plan Maggie Sew-A-Long

What are you working on this week?

  1. Yay for finishes!! Your tunic is adorable and I am sorely tempted to join you in January for your stitch along! My only issue, as always, if finding fabric. Since I have to order online I always will go to Mood fabric, find a cotton jersey and then hesitate at checkout wondering if it will be soft enough and not pill. I freeze up every time! Well, maybe this sew along will help me get past that point! I will keep my eye open for more info on that! Also… your snowy pictures made me feel cold. LOL!! Brrrrrr!!!!

I am with you on a stress-free year end and projects to look forward to in 2017! Love that decision!

    1. I have to order online, too. The closest fabric store (other than Wal-Mart) is 2-1/2 hours away. I really love sewing with brushed poly or ponte de roma. Double brushed poly is always soft and lovely, as well! The sew-a-long will be great – I think the first week will be the preview, then one week for the top, one for the tunic, and one for the dress. πŸ˜€

I love that the end of the year is looking to be stress free, it is such a great feeling!

It’s COLD here right now – 18˚ today. I love the snow, but I wouldn’t mind it being a little warmer.

      1. I finally remembered to come back to your blog to see your response! Geez, I always forget. (insert rolling eyes emoticon here) I will search for those fabrics then. I also forgot to comment on your dinner party. SO MUCH FUN!! Wow! Your dessert looks amazing, and your table setting… wowza! Glad that worked out so well and you all want to continue the event. So wonderful!

        1. Thank you so much! It’s fun to do something totally out of the norm every now and then, especially when it involves great food and company.

  2. You are one stylish lady! Love your patterns! Don’t you just love working down a to do list? πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you so much, Patricia! I absolutely love checking things off my list! I love to see the visible progress!
