To Tuesday October 4

TDTuesday

Welcome to To Do Tuesday hosted by Christine over at Stitch All the Things.

This is what my To Do Tuesday list from September 27th looked like with the addition of #4 because we’ve started a new month:

1.  Finish Pattern Testing & Pictures
2.  August TSNEM – Bodice Sloper (remeasure and adjust pattern accordingly)
3.  September TSNEM – Hat and Mask making
4.  October TSNEM – Hand Piecing & Quilting

Last weekend was the final round of shows for The Little Mermaid, and while I enjoyed the process and all the wonderful people I met, I am very happy to have my evenings and weekends free once again!  I managed to get a little done on each of my To Do Tuesday projects, but I didn’t actually finish any of them.  Phew – Craziness abounds!

On top of the last weekend of shows, our son, Terrance, had an emergency appendectomy Friday night which threw us into crazy stressed mode.  We were able to bring him home at about 12:30 that night (Saturday morning), and he is recovering very well!

To Do Tuesday October 4th

Sunday, Harley and I met Emma and went to Tri-Cities to shop for Harley’s homecoming dress.  It was also the day we did Senior pictures for Harley and my nephew, Benjamin.  The both turn 18 this week – their birthdays are only 5 days apart.

If you have kids heading off to college or already in college, then you know that Saturday was also the FAFSA filing date for Federal Financial Aid.  Surprisingly, it was relatively easy this year, and Harley and I didn’t have too much difficulty.  We also managed to get her registered for the SAT.

To Do Tuesday October 4th

1.  Finish Pattern Testing & Pictures

I absolutely cannot wait to be able to show everyone this pattern – it is comfortable, stylish, and an easy sew.  I have one made, and the other cut out and ready to sew.  This is my “test” version, and I don’t normally wear animal prints; however, I did wear this to work one day and got a lot of compliments.  I can’t wait to finish the other one!

2.  August TSNEM – Bodice Sloper

I re-measured Reagan, and I have re-drafted the flat pattern pieces, I just need to make the muslin now to make sure it fits.  If it does, then I can make the dress she has been asking for (based on the picture below) and cross this project off my list!

3.  September TSNEM – Hat and Mask Making

I have the pieces for the hat cut out and ready to start covering and stitching together.

4.  October TSNEM – Hand Piecing & Quilting

I am really excited for this month’s TSNEM because months ago I bookmarked this group of posts from Erin at Why Not Sew?, and I finally get to follow her tutorials!  I don’t plan on making anything big, probably just a block that I can turn into a pot-holder.

My list for this week is identical to last weeks because I didn’t finish any of my projects; however, I did make progress on each of them.  More importantly, I am not stressed about not having them finished!

What are you working on this week?

  1. FAFSA – glad that worked easily for you this year. With 5 kids, and the last a Junior in college, we are looking forward to FAFSA days being a thing of the past!

How nice to get compliments on your new piece while wearing it to work. What will your next fabric choice be?

  2. Wow… what a week! I am so glad your son is okay and hope his recovery is quick and easy! I remember going through the FAFSA stuff with my oldest daughter. Your picture summed up the experience perfectly. I burst into laughter! I hope you have an easier and less stressful week!

    1. Yes, the FAFSA experience is one of a kind! Terrance is healing very well, and we’re all finally getting back to normal.

  3. You definitely had a week! I’m so glad you are being gentle with yourself….it’s a great reminder for me. Such lovely sewing projects and pictures!
