To Do Tuesday July 26 {Linky Party}

TDTuesday

Welcome to To-Do Tuesday hosted by Christine over at Stitch All the Things!  Christine has been busy working with her Mister on moving into a new house and getting it updated, so several bloggers who participate in To-Do Tuesday have been hosting the link-up for her.  This week, I am hosting for her.

My list from last week included:

1.  TSNEM:  Create and Use a Bodice Sloper
2.  Sassy Librarian Blouse
3.  Union St Tee (size down and/or use cotton/lycra knit)
4.  San Francisco Swing Top from Sew Caroline (plum rayon knit)
5.  Sunkissed Tee from Peek-A-Boo Pattern Shop (dark teal c/l knit)

Well, I actually was able to get some work done, and I have two finishes and a progress to share!

1.  TSNEM:  Create and Use a Bodice Sloper

My daughter, Harley, helped me with this one, and took all my measurements for me. Now all I have to do is translate them into a sloper.

2.  Sassy Librarian Blouse

I did not make any progress on this project this week; however I am determined that it will be my next project!

3.  Union St Tee

The last Union St Tee I made felt like a tent, but I was more convinced it was the fabric than the size I made; however, after making another version this week with different fabric, I am convinced it is partially the sizing, at least.  I made a large based on my bust measurement (Can you say ginormous?), but I can see now that I need to size down and do a FBA instead to really be comfortable.  I do like this version much better than the first, and it does fit nicely, just not quite perfectly yet!

4.  San Francisco Swing Top from Sew Caroline (plum rayon knit)

I am finding a lot of plum in my closet these days, and that surprises me – I’m not normally a purple-liking girl.  I have this lovely plum knit that is really flowy and drapes well, so I thought it would be perfect to use with the San Francisco Swing Top; however, after getting it made and trying it on, I’m not thrilled.  I don’t know if it’s my posture in these pictures, the fact I’m wearing zero make-up, or if it really is the way this fabric fits with this top pattern.  I felt really good wearing the top until I saw these pictures, and I feel like they make me look HUGE, which I am not (I just have those ginormous obstacles).  The black version I made during the testing process fits well and looks nice.  Oh well, at least I have a nice sleeveless top to wear at home! 😉

5.  Sunkissed Tee from Peek-A-Boo Pattern Shop (turquoise c/l knit; lime green c/l knit)

I did not get these tops made this week, either, but they’re a really quick project, so I should be able to get them knocked out this week, as well.

I dragged Reagan out of the house last night to be my photographer with the promise of driving by a couple Pok-e-Mon stops (bribery at its best).  I grabbed this picture just to make sure the settings on my camera were good to go.  Thanks for the help, Reagan, you cutie-patootie!

I am pretty pleased with my progress this week, and I am looking forward to getting some more items knocked off my to-do list next week!  I am not going to add anything new to my list; however, until I get AT LEAST the TNSEM project and the Sassy Librarian Blouse made.

My list for next week:

1.  TSNEM:  Create and Use a Bodice Sloper
2.  Sassy Librarian Blouse
3.  Union St Tee (size down and use a FBA)
4.  Sunkissed Tee from Peek-A-Boo Pattern Shop (dark teal c/l knit)

Now it’s your turn – link up here to share your finishes!

    1. Thank you very much, Sarah! I am actually wearing the Union St Tee again today, and it feels a lot better after being washed an additional time!

  1. Wow, what a busy week! I think you look great too, but I know what you mean about not liking something because it makes you feel you look bigger than you are. I don’t see that here though! Thanks so much for hosting this week!! I *really* appreciate the help!!

    1. Thank you so much! I feel much better in it today after another wash and dry!

I love that I was able to help!

  2. I think you’ve pointed out a real issue with garment making: Sometime the sizing is a real issue! It hits home when you’ve put a good amount of money into the pattern, fabric, etc. and even measured carefully, and still the product fits too small or too large. But for a custom item, you can beat the ability to make several of the same when you find that perfect pattern either!

Your tops are flattering, and seem to be just my style, too. I appreciate you modelling them as it helps me out thinking about the fit and sizing.

    1. Thank you so much for your comments, I really appreciate it! I agree, and I am finding that custom-fitting my garments (tops at least) is way easier than trying to find something in-store.
