Earned Success

Emma’s favorite sport is track.  She started working on a new work-out routine with her dad before the track season started, and it seems to have paid off!  The Blue Mountain Conference District Track Meet was held Friday in Union.  At the meet, the top two finishers automatically qualify for the State Track Meet in Monmouth next weekend.  The first event Emma participated in at the meet was the 4x100M Relay.  Emma is the final leg of the relay and ran her little buns off to finish the race!

Finishing the 4x100M Relay

The second event on the docket for Emma was the 100M sprint.  She did not have her fastest time to date, but she did great!  The proudest moment of the day for me was when she and the competitor from Enterprise who took second place congratulated one another after crossing the finish line.  They hadn’t even stopped running completely!

Run, Emma, Run!

Emma’s last event of the day was the 200M sprint.  It was a pretty close race, but not as close for her as it was for the 2nd and 3rd place finishers, who were separated by only 0.01 second!!!  Second place had to be determined using a photo-finish between Tara Glynn from Pilot Rock and Aranza Quezada from Irrigon.  Aranza eventually got the nod and will be going to compete at State with Emma.

Winning the 200!

My Girl & Me after her Championship 200M Run!

Good luck to all the Morrow County Athletes (Heppner, Irrigon, Ione, and Boardman) headed to the State Track Meet in Monmouth next weekend!  The East-Side is well-represented!
