Unique Solutions

When you are living in a camp trailer full-time you need a continuous supply of water and electricity.  The electricity is hooked up through our temporary meter.  The water . . . well, that’s a different story.  The well is dug already, but we are nowhere near ready to use it to supply the house or anything else at the moment.

For the time being, we use a 50-gallon plastic drum, fill it up at our house, and drive to the property.  Once we’re there, we back up through a maze of objects to fill my parents’ trailer and our trailer with water.  I’m not sure how much longer we’ll have to utilize this method of water supply, but for now, it’s easy and it works.

So, what do you do to stay cool when the temperatures crest well above 100 degrees?  If you’re not running through the sprinklers running on the sand to keep the blowing dust down, you’re using a cleaned up water trough as a swimming pool.  Its a great solution to a “hot” problem, and the girls think its a blast!

We’re building walls this week, so more pictures are sure to come.
