Change is Good?

We have a lot of change going on in our lives this summer. Some of the changes are small, and relatively minor, and some of the changes are HUGE and quite monumental. I am trying to deal with these major changes with the idea that everything happens for a reason, and I don’t need to know that reason, just have faith that it is the right thing for right now.

The small changes are easy to deal with.

  • Harley and Katelyn will be in the third grade. They are asserting their independence, and I have to let them do so (to an extent).
  • My mom is completely retired, which is weird to me, but wonderful because I see how much fun my parents are having together.

The big changes; they’re not so easy to deal with, but I will, and I will be better for it.

  • One of my longest and dearest (definitely my closest in mileage) friends has made a very tough decision and has gotten a job clear across Washington State. It is a GREAT change for her and her son, and they will thrive in their new environment. We don’t see each other often now, but I am so sad that she won’t be just a quick trip away anymore.
  • Reagan ~ My Baby Angel ~ is going to Kindergarten this year. Not such a big deal because she was in pre-school last year and attended two days a week for half a day. A huge change because she will be in full-day school every day of the week. I am thrilled for her because I know she is so excited to be going to school with her big sisters, but I am sad because this is one more step of growing up that came way too quickly for me.
  • I have a new job. The Head Secretary at IHS has moved on to a different school, and after interviewing, I was offered the position. It is a new, exciting challenge for me, but I am very nervous, too!
  • Emma is leaving us this year. She has made the choice to live with her dad and Staci and try going to school in Heppner next year. This is the biggest change for all of us, as we’re so used to having her around all the time. I can’t imagine what life will be like in the Fall when the other girls go back to school and she won’t be here. She’s never NOT been here. I am thrilled that she is excited about trying new things and having new experiences, I am glad she has the confidence in herself to do that.

Change is good. It is necessary for life to go on. I just wish it wasn’t so difficult some times.

I found the perfect quote:

It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most
intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.

I will strive to be the most responsive to change.
